Victron Energy has launched the MultiPlus-II in Australia.
The MultiPlus-II will combine the functions of the MultiPlus and the MultiGrid.
It has all the features of the MultiPlus, plus an external current transformer option to implement PowerControl and PowerAssist and to optimize self-consumption with external current sensing (max. 32A).
It also has all the features of MultiGrid with built-in anti-islanding for on-grid applications. For a short period of time, this product was called MultiGrid-II.
Here is a short video of the product launch at the Australian Energy Storage Conference in Adelaide in May 2018.
Time-Saving Tips For Your First MultiGrid Install
If you have installed a Victron system in an off-grid site, then doing your first ‘on-grid’ installation is relatively straightforward, except for the Neutral and MEN operation.
- MEN – read and understand the Victron MEN document available through DPA.
- BONDING – During the quoting and design stage, we recommend you go to the site and test circuits on what will become the load side for:
A – Earth-neutral bonding. There must be NO bonding.
B – Check any RCDs that could impact the above. Consider a Type 2 RCD that is more appropriate for solar and battery applications. Any neutral bars on the load side must be separate from the neutral bars on the grid side. There can be NO MEN links on the load side.
3. BYPASS SWITCHES – If a bypass switch is being used, it must switch all actives and neutrals.
Hopefully knowing these key issues will save you many hours of frustrating fault finding with Error 11 and the like. Contact us for more useful hints and tips.
Victron Training
Each year Victron run training sessions around Australia and DPA is keen that our customers attend to hear about new product releases and updates on all aspects of your Victon equipment. This year the training sessions will be split over two days so there can be a focus on the main market segments:
Day 1: Automotive/Marine
Day 2: Off-grid, Back-up
Refer to our Product Training page for dates and locations.
Remember that DPA also runs in-house training for VE Configure for single and 3-phase installs of MultiPlus and MultiGrid’s which we can arrange by appointment, but we recommend you still attend the annual Victron Training at your closest capital city.
